morocco Flag

The flag of Morocco has a red base with a green outlined, five-point star known as the 'Seal of Solomon' in the center of it.

The Morocco flag has its own meaning. Green and red are traditional colors of Islam, which is Morocco's official religion. Red is also the color of the reigning Moroccan dynasty. The Seal of Solomon symbolizes the link between God and the nation.

The Moroccan flag was enacted on November 17, 1915. Morocco was granted independence from France on March 2, 1956. The 'Seal of Solomon' was placed on the red flag, previously used by the reigning Moroccan dynasty since the 17th century, to differentiate Morocco's flag from similar red flags of other nations. This is morocco's flag history.

Other flags of Morocco are flown. The first is a civil ensign flag. This flag has the all red background with the green five point star as well as a yellow crown in the upper left hand corner. The second is a naval ensign flag. This flag too has the all red background with the green five point star as well as a yellow crown in each of the four corners. The last flag is the Naval Jack flag. This flag has the all red background with the green five point star as well as the outer border of the flag outlined in yellow, and right side of the flag with a vee shaped cut out of it.
