Jamaica Flag

The Jamaican flag has two yellow lines crossing diagonally. The top and bottom sections are equal sized green triangles, and the right and left sections are equal sized black triangles. These are Jamaica flag colors.

The flag of Jamaica follows this motto: “'Hardships there are but the land is green and the sun shineth”. The black triangles symbolize the hardships that Jamaica has withstood, as well as future struggles of Jamaica. The green triangles symbolize agriculture and hope. The yellow diagonal cross or golden saltire symbolizes mineral wealth and sunlight. This describes the Jamaica country flag.

The Jamaican flag was enacted on August 6, 1962 after gaining independence from the Federation of the West Indies. Previously Jamaica had gained independence from Britain and joined the Federation in 1958. This is the history of Jamaican flag.

This is a red cross on a white field; a yellow pineapple is in each cross, with the Queen's personal flag imposed in the centre. The next flag is the Flag of the Governor-General of Jamaica. This flag is described as a lion standing on a crown on a blue field, with "Jamaica" underneath. The last flag is the Jamaican Naval Ensign. This flag is described as a White Ensign with the Flag of Jamaica in the canton. These are other Jamaican flags.
