Czech Flag

The Czech Republic is a landlocked country located in central Europe just southeast of Germany and bordered by Poland, Germany, Austria and Slovakia. Prague is the largest city and Czech’s capital. The Czech Republic weather is temperate. Their summers are cool and their winters are humid, cloudy, and cold. The Czech currency is Czech koruna.

The Czech Republic national flag is exactly the same flag as the former Czechoslovakian flag. The Slovak Republic acquired a new flag while the Czech Republic continued to use the Czechoslovakia flag upon Czechoslovakia’s dissolution. The Czech Republic flag background is red, white, and blue. The white and red colors on the Czech Republic’s flag descended from Bohemia’s ancient or past coat of arms. Because the flag of Czechoslovakia are almost the same as the flag of Poland and the colors were identical to the flag of Austria, in 1920 they added a blue wedge to the flag of Czech Republic. The Bohemia flag and the Czech flag were also identical before Czech added the blue wedge.

Although commonly disputed, many vexillologists believe that the author of the Czech Republic flag is Jaroslav Kursa. He worked at the Department of Home affairs as the person in charge of collecting, cataloguing achieves, and many agree that he was responsible for the present appearance of the flag of the Czech Republic. On March 30, 1920, the National Assembly of Czechoslovakia officially approved the Czech rep. flag. Other than the occupation years during World War II, the Czech Republic flag has flow continuously.

The Czech Republic flag colors are white, red, and blue. The Czech flag has two equal size horizontal stripes with the red stripe going across the top half of the Czech Republic’s flag and the red stripe across the bottom half of the flag of the Czech Republic. On the hoist side of the flag of Czechoslovakia, there is a horizontal isosceles triangle of blue. It points towards the flags middle and is exactly half the length of the flag, with the tip ending in the centre. Unlike many other national flags, the flag of the Czech Republic’s colors do not have any symbolic meaning. According to Ancient traditions, usually the white on a flag symbolizes honesty and peace, red represents strength, hardiness, valor, and bravery, and blue symbolizes loyalty, vigilance, justice, truth, and perseverance.
