The Republic of Chile is located in southern South America and borders on the South Pacific Ocean between Peru and Argentina. The population of Chile is just under sixteen million people. Chile’s capital is Santiago, which is also the largest city. Their official language is Spanish.

According to Chile flag history, they created the first Chile national flag during their struggle for independence. The first time they raised the Chile flag was on July 4, 1812 at a banquet held by Joel Robert Poinsett, a United States consul. The banquet celebrated United States independence, which influenced Chilean locals’ own struggle for independence. On September 30, 1812, Chile adopted the flag and seal of Patria Vieja, the Old Country.
The Chile flag represented the States three powers, which were Strength, Law, and Majesty. The Spanish flag replaced this flag in May of 1814 when Chile signed the Treaty of Lircay because the enemy of Carrera, Colonel Francisco de la Lastra ordered the Chile flag removed. According to Chile flag history, October 1 and 2nd 1814 during the re-conquest battle of Rancagua was the last time they used this flag. February 12, 1817 ended the realist control and the start of La Patria Nueva or new country. Chile never used the Spanish flag after this.
