The republic of Bolivia is located in central South America bordered by Paraguay, Brazil, Peru, Chile, and Argentina. The capital city is Sucre and largest city is Santa Cruz de la Sierra. The population of Bolivia is approximately nine million people.
According to Bolivian flag history, the republic of Bolivia originally adopted their current Bolivian flag in 1851. The Bolivia national flag, war flag and their state flag is a tricolor horizontal Bolivia flag with a red strip across the top of the flag of Bolivia. There is a yellow strip in the middle of the flag Bolivia and a green strip on the bottom of Bolivia’s flag. The Bolivian coat of arms appears on the yellow strip, centered in the middle. Both the ensign of Bolivia and civic Bolivian flags omit Bolivia’s coat of arms.
Some believe that on the flags of Bolivia, the yellow strip in the middle of the flag of Bolivia stands for their countries mineral deposits. The green strip at the bottom on Bolivia flags symbolizes fertility, while the red strip seen on Bolivia flag colors at the top represent its liberating army and Bolivia’s animals.
Although Bolivia is landlocked, it does have a naval ensign, which the Bolivia navy vessels use on lakes and rivers. A Bolivia flag picture of the naval ensign shows the flag has a blue background or field with the Bolivia state flag in the upper left section or canton. Nine yellow five-pointed small stars border the canton with a yellow five-pointed larger star in the fly. The nine yellow stars on the naval ensign represent Bolivia’s nine departments, which are:
